Scope - Aircraft Availability

Overview

The Aircraft Availability scope covers periods during which an aircraft is available or unavailable for operational use. Each record represents an availability slot — a defined time window associated with a specific aircraft and, optionally, a specific airport location.

Operators use this scope to report on fleet readiness, track planned downtime, and analyse utilisation patterns across their aircraft fleet. It is particularly useful for fleet planning: understanding when aircraft are free for scheduling, when they are blocked for maintenance or owner use, and how availability status varies over time.

What reports can you build with this scope?

Examples of typical reports operators build with this scope:

  • Fleet availability overview — a summary of which aircraft are available during a selected date range, grouped by registration

  • Unavailability analysis — identifying periods when aircraft were blocked or unavailable and the associated airports

  • Airport-based availability — filtering availability slots by departure or arrival airport to support ground operations planning

  • Status breakdown — listing all availability records grouped by status to understand the mix of available vs. unavailable time

  • Date range utilisation report — comparing start and end times of availability slots to calculate total available hours per aircraft
