Scope - Repositioning

Overview

The Repositioning scope covers positioning movements — records of crew members travelling to reach a departure station or return home after a duty, typically as passengers on commercial flights or other means of transport. These are distinct from the flights operated by the company itself; repositioning records track the logistics of getting crew where they need to be.

Use this scope to report on crew positioning activity: how often crew members are repositioned, between which airports, by what means, and at what cost in time. It also supports operational oversight — tracking cancellations, rebooking needs, and tagging for categorisation purposes.

What reports can you build with this scope?

Examples of typical reports operators build with this scope:

Crew positioning summary by period — how many positioning movements occurred in a given date range, broken down by crew member or route
Positioning routes analysis — most frequently used origin/destination airport pairs for crew positioning
Cancellation and rebook tracking — list of repositioning movements that were cancelled or flagged for rebooking
Positioning type breakdown — split of positioning movements by type (e.g. commercial flight, train, etc.)
Crew home base vs. positioning origin — compare crew home bases against the actual departure airports of their positioning movements

Identification
