How do Days Off and Days On work in Leon?
Days Off and Days On are duty types placed on the crew calendar, and Leon counts them for planning rules, FTL recurrent-rest checks, and leave statistics. A Day Off is only credited as such when the whole required period is actually free of duty — a duty encroaching on it invalidates the day off for compliance purposes.
Does Leon track how many days off each crew member has received?
Yes, days-off statistics per crew member are available for the planning period, letting planners verify quotas such as days off per month or per year required by your OM-A or labour rules. Violations of configured days-off requirements can be flagged automatically.
How is the annual leave (vacation) balance calculated?
Each crew member can have a leave account with an annual entitlement, and Leon deducts leave duties placed on the calendar from that balance. If the balance looks wrong, check the entitlement value, the leave duty types configured to consume it, and any mid-year start or carry-over adjustments entered for that crew member.
Can different duty types consume the leave balance differently?
Yes, which duty types deduct from the leave account is configurable, so for example annual leave reduces the balance while unpaid leave or sick days are tracked separately. Review the duty-type setup if a leave type is (or is not) consuming the balance as expected.
Does a day off at home base count toward recurrent extended recovery rest?
A day off contributes to the recurrent recovery-rest requirement only when it satisfies the rest definition of your FTL scheme — including the required local nights and full freedom from duty. Leon evaluates this automatically, which is why a calendar "Day Off" does not always clear the recurrent-rest requirement.
Can crew request days off or leave through the Crew App?
Yes, crew can submit duty requests (including days off and leave) where the operator enables the request workflow, and planners then approve or reject them in the roster. Requests appear distinctly in planning so they are not confused with assigned duties.
Why does a day off show a violation after a schedule change?
A late-finishing or early-starting duty can encroach on the protected period of an adjacent day off, which invalidates it and triggers a warning. Re-check the duty times around the day off after any schedule change — moving the duty or the day off restores compliance.
Can days off be planned automatically according to a pattern?
Recurring patterns (for example fixed rotations of days on and off) can be built efficiently by adding duties for multiple days and crew in one action and by reusing saved patterns, but Leon does not generate rosters autonomously. Optimization tools can be connected via the API where automated rostering is required.
